  • Turn down the telephone ringer, so burglars won't hear that you aren't there to answer 
  • When you go on vacation, leave a trusted friend or neighbor in charge of your house. Its good to have them collect mad, water plants and flick on and off some lights to show activity on the premises. 
  • Set items such as lamps and radios on a timer so It looks like your residence isn't vacant
